Twin-engine turboprop Rebecca Romijn has us happily in a holding pattern at the 16th annual Conde Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards in New York. Her DKNY black 'n' white striped empire-waist silk dress with cap sleeves and flared hem, turquoise pointy pumps and simple straight hair earn major frequent flier points. And, hey, the fit proves her tray table is already in the upright and locked position!

Some 7,000 howling U.S. soldiers sweated and gyrated through a USO show in an aircraft hangar in Baghdad on Thursday, as a gaggle of American celebrities competed for their attentions. "It's still hot, it's still miserable but it gives us a chance to get away from the whole war in Baghdad," said U.S. Army Lt. Justin Morseth of Newark, Ohio. Stars who flew to Baghdad for the show included singer Kid Rock, actor Gary Sinese, National Football League players Duce Stanley and Jason P. Taylor and actress Rebecca Romijn and her husband, actor John Stamos. The stars signed autographs and shook hands with the troops. "These guys have done so much and I'm doing so little, but if a little bit can help a lot that's what I want to do," Sinese said. In a poignant moment, Sinese delivered a letter from Morseth's wife. Sinese had been corresponding with Morseth, the stepson of a friend from a Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater, which Sinese founded.

Let's get down to the gorgeous gams belonging to one Rebecca Romijn. Looking lush in a ruffled white dress slit beyond thigh-high, R.R. was accompanied by equally leg-worthy hubby John Stamos (no ominous Jen 'n' Scott creepy red-carpet sitch, though). Getting a little heady, the thigh-a-licious honey dished on what gives this flick a leg up on all the rest. "I like to call it a blockbuster with a brain," she proffered, prof-like. "It's this huge superhero movie that actually has this great message about tolerance and people who have been alienated for being different." "Oh, gimme some dirt," I panted. "Who makes you feel alienated in this town?" "I can't answer that, because I'll say too much and get in trouble," snipped the supermodel cum actress.

Having spent so long in the fashion industry, Rebecca still retains an interest and traveled to Milan in March to catch Giorgio Armani's autumn collection. "All of a sudden I got a call form their office saying that Mr Armani loved Femme Fatale and loosely based some of his collection on the movie. They asked if I would do them a big favour and escort Mr Armani on the runway at the end of the show. I was like, "That's not a favour, it's a privelege," They gave me a dress to wear and suddenly I was in the show. I was so rusty I felt like a dinosaur backstage with all those girls. I never did a whole lot of catwalk stuff when I was modeling, it wasn't my favourite thing. I was more of an advertising girl. Whenever show season came around, my agency would tell me to cancel my big money advertising jobs to go do the catwalk and I was like, "Er, why?""
