Jerry O'Connell and bride Rebecca Romijn will soon be joining the ranks of expectant parents -- if their plans come to fruition. "Rebecca and I are both looking forward to the next logical step," reveals the star of ABC's "Carpoolers" sitcom, who married the "Ugly Betty" actress last July. "We're married, and we both want children soon. That's our plan, and we can't wait."
The writers' strike that's crippling Hollywood could help them realize their plans, he says. Both have been idle from their series shooting for months now. And that, says O'Connell, "is giving us some very cherished time together. When we're working, we see each other very little. But with the strike … Well, I'm spending a lot of time gardening, she's become a chronic antique e-Bayer and does work with cross-stitching. But mostly we spend time together."
O'Connell's series has started an eight-week airing of segments that were shot prior to the beginning of the strike, but, like the rest of the industry, he has no idea when he'll be able to return to the cameras.
Universal Studios, where "Carpoolers" usually shoots, "is like a ghost town," he says. "They've laid off so many people -- commissary workers, security staff … I can tell how the industry is doing from the situation at Universal. If the parking lots are crowded, you know business is jumping. But as it is now, well, the last time I saw the lot so empty was in the '90s, when all those productions were going to Canada to shoot."

TV star Jerry O'Connell and his beautiful wife -- model-turned-actress Rebecca Romijn -- are busily preparing for the arrival of twins -- who are expected this winter -- and getting their home ready for the little bundles of joy.
"We cleared out a bedroom, actually not a bedroom, it was my aunt and uncle's old stuff," Jerry tells People. "I had my computer and video games in there that got cleared out for the kids. So, I'm wondering what I'm going to do with my video game stuff. But, maybe that goes out the window when you have kids."
After dating for two-and-a-half years, the twosome married in July 2007 in an intimate backyard wedding. The twins will be the couple's first children, and Jerry can't stop gushing about their current plans to welcome the twins into their new home. Rebecca Romijn on Pregnancy
In this week's (11-06-2008, RRF) Page Six Magazine - Rebecca Romijn, pregnant with twin daughters on the way, opens up about fertility drugs, maternity sex appeal and her split from ex-husband John Stamos.
On using medical intervention to get pregnant:
"We did not do IVF... A year ago, we tried [the fertility drug] Clomid for a couple of months unsuccessfully. But by the second month, I was like, 'Ahhh! I hate this!' I think when you start messing with your own hormones, it's crazy-making."
On her body during pregnancy:
"I can't move anymore...I'm a beached whale! ...I have not been without a bra this entire pregnancy. I refuse. I'm not taking any chances. I'm determined to keep the puppies up!"
On speculation that the cause of her 2004 divorce was that she did not want children:
"There is absolutely no truth to that. That [story] was completely made up. I desperately wanted kids. I was never a girl who dreamed about what her wedding day would be like, but I've always dreamed about decorating my baby's nursery."
On husband Jerry O'Connell's fathering skills:
I knew early on he would be a fantastic dad. He's a pragmatic, smart, savvy, enthusiastic person. He really lives his life with tremendous integrity, and he's a healthy person in every single way."
"I've just surrendered to the fact that [parenting] will be the hardest thing I'll ever do. I know my life will never be the same - but in the best way possible."

Jerry O'Connell Didn't Watch Rebecca Romijn Give Birth
Jerry O'Connell may love his wife Rebecca Romijn and he may love his twin daughters, but that doesn't mean that O'Connell loved watching his wife give birth to his twin daughters. In fact, Jerry opted not to do it. We guess it's lucky that Rebecca took the high road and didn't opt out of actually going through with the labor in order to get even with her husband.
Speaking to Fox's Pop Tarts O'Connell revealed, "I was there for the birth but I did not look though. A friend of mine said 'listen, I've looked so I'm giving you a piece of advice - I don't think you should look' so I didn't actually see anything." Poor form, Jerry. Everyone knows you're supposed to look. You're supposed to kind of hate it because of how disgusting it is, but you still have to look.
O'Connell also said that his wife is pretty close to having back her pre-pregnancy bod. Said O'Connell, "Yes... yes I guess she is. She looks great, back into the pilates. She's stopped breast-feeding so it slows down a little, I don't know the particulars. But we had a very large lunch today and we had dessert so I don't think she's dieting per se."
Jerry O'Connell's next endeavor will be law school. Explained O'Connell, "I got the short straw for not working so I'm going to grad school part-time. I can do my homework and watch the kids at the same time. But Rebecca misses the girls a lot when she's at work so I bring them around and let them bother her on set." Good of Jerry to stay home and watch the kids while Rebecca is at work. We guess this means that they've been out of the womb long enough for Jerry not to be creeped out by the idea of looking at them.
