In his previous film, The Upside of Anger, writer-director Mike Binder had the benefit of Joan Allen's boiling cauldron of emotions as a woman betrayed by a disappearing husband. She ranted, she raved, she got drunk a lot, while Kevin Costner, as her equally sozzled neighbour, poured them both a drink and waited.

The break-up of her own marriage helped American actor Rebecca Romijn get in character for her latest film role. Romijn worked on Man About Town 18 months after her high-profile split from fellow actor John Stamos after six years of marriage. Man About Town tells of a troubled showbusiness couple, played by Ben Affleck and Romijn, living in Hollywood.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Rebecca Romijn is in negotiations to play Ben Affleck (news)'s wife in "Man About Town."

The project is being eyed for a late-October start, with Mike Binder (HBO's "The Mind of the Married Man") directing from his script.
